Ms. Debra Turman was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother/"Gi-Gi", sister, aunt, and cousin. She was born in Anderson, South Carolina on February 25, 1959 to Bennie and Carrie Johnson Turman. She peacefully passed away on Friday, January 2, 2026 at AnMed Health Medical Center.
Debra joined Pleasant Grove Baptist Church at an early age. She graduated from McDuffie High School. She also received degrees from Forest Junior College and Tri-County Technical College. Debra worked at Jackson Mill in Iva, SC for 15 years. She later worked for Michelin for 15 plus years before retiring.
During her spare time, she loved working in the yard and spending time with her grandkids.
She will be dearly missed by her daughter, Adrian Turman of Anderson, SC; three grandchildren, Arianna "Sweet Pea" Turman of Anderson, SC, Bendreakus "Scooter" Turman of Anderson, SC and Obryanna Turman of Starr, SC; one great-grandson, Khaza "Sugga Babe" Hunter of Starr, SC; nephew reared in the home, Maurice Turman; special daughter, Kenya St. John; special son, Rashad Scott; five sisters, Georgia Henderson, Maxine Syrkett, Beatrice Turman, Annette Turman, and Jacqueline Turman; three brothers, Demon Turman, Bob Turman, and Terry Turman; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bennie and Carrie Turman; one daughter, Carmencita Turman; two grandchildren, BenDarius Turman and Keyondez Turman; one sister, Bessie Turman; and three brothers, Edgar Turman, Harry Turman, and Marvin Turman.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 10, 2026 in the Ollie Robinson Brown Memorial Chapel of Marcus D. Brown Funeral Home. Public viewing will be held Friday from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family will be at the home of her granddaughter, Bryanna, on Monday, Tuesday , Wednesday afternoon, Thursday, and Friday after 4:00 pm. The family will also fellowship at Bryanna's home after the funeral service. The address is 125 Ostrich Lane, Starr, SC.
